April 15 2009 at Dogwood LodgeAlabama has lost a treasure.
I was privileged to spend time last spring with Doug
and brother Warren at their beloved Dogwood Lodge,
a family hunting preserve and retreat bordering
Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge and established in
1963 by their parents, Walter B. Jones and Hazel
Phelps Jones. It was Doug's passion that the property
be perpetually conserved in its natural state as a
tribute to his parents. I hope that can be done, in
Doug's honor as well.
