Sheer Idiocy

This kind of thinking from our elected leaders scares the crap out of me.

More of the same here.

Translation: the Earth will end when God decides it ends, so damn the torpedoes and drill baby drill.

A disturbing number of my friends and acquaintances are starting to subscribe to this theory: The “End of times” is coming, so why worry about the environment or a huge national debt?
It’s all in God’s hands, so don’t bother.
As a person who attends church on a regular basis, I see some forms of religion doing an awful lot of harm by promulgating/enabling these horrific attitudes, and it makes me ashamed.
I wonder if the hugely popular “Left Behind” series of books has contributed to this line of thinking?
For the rest of us living in the here and now, on Planet Earth: Vote! Damn it! Vote!
